The CHALLENGE
Project focus: Launch Adidas Watches from scratch under the Nixon Watches trademark. Adidas Originals is already a powerhouse established brand and while the namesake comes with a large consumer base, launching a trademark product has various challenges including a new set of rules, regulations and approvals as a separate entity from the brand. We needed to find a balance between unique and new, while remaining close to the Adidas Originals family.
The approach
Because Adidas is already a tastemaker, we built a brand that was able to stand out but still compliment Adidas. We established a position that was distinguishable within a saturated category by complementing its brand with a worldly personality and expert voice.
To activate our refined strategy, we designed the brand to be inclusive, interesting, and empathetic using a relatable and expressive visual language. We applied this language to various touchpoints, including advertising, social, and eCommerce.
